It seems there is a Princess Bride game. I don't know whether to be horrified or smitten.

From \. :
Nintendo has added a new title to their WiiWare shop, Strong Bad Episode 1: Homestar Ruiner from developer Telltale Games's "Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People".
"The point-and-click adventure game stars Strong Bad, the lucha libre mask-wearing character from web cartoon series Homestar Runner. Players can create "Teen Girl Squad" comics, play a retro-styled minigame titled Snake Boxer 5, and send pictures and messages to their friends through the Wii's message board system."
'Course you prolly knew about it already, ne?

Whitcoulls currently has the first three series of BattleStar Galactica, plus the mini-series, selling at $89.00. I only have the first series in hard-copy which alone cost me about $50. Very tempting! Should I do it? Tell me, please!

So there's another NiN album out, Halo 27 - The Slip, again available free. Get it now!

This article on food that causes anal leakage isn't very well written, but it may be useful for some. It certainly explains why KFC goes straight thru!

Slightly more appetizing is Nik Ainley's art, probably easiest to experience on his site ShinyBinary. His Stranger is especially delectable. If you look at his DeviantArt site as well, it contains art with the txt "Join me in Shinyland" that made me think of Shiny.

Cracked have listed the poison head crabs from Half Life 2 at only Number Two in The 10 Most Terrifying Video Game Enemies of All Time. I would have to agree that they are damn scary. Especially because you know they're there before you see them, but knowing they are there only helps in avoiding them if they are at a longer range and you have line of site to them. Hearing them cackle when you're in a dark room, especially when you;re not already holding an appropriate weapon...well, HL2 is one of the few games that actually causes physical flight-or-fight reactions in me, and those poison head-crabs are big part of why.

So, now I'm part of "EDS, an HP company", how does that make me feel? Pretty "meh" actually.

Recently I realized I have been doing too much reminiscing over past good times, and not enough arranging for new good times. Long term this is, I know, and may fall apart before it happens. But this year I"m 47, and while I'll be spending the actual birth day at Southern Exposure, I would like to have a party somewhere up here. In keeping with my earlier attempts at theming my parties, this one will be called "Closer" (based on my own pseudo-Cockney rhyming slang of "Forty Seven - Closer to Heaven". Take that however you like, though I was thinking of NiN's Closer when I said it.

The next year, 2009, I will be 48. This means I will need to have a 48 hour party. A 48 for my forty-eighth. It will be a real party, I know several DJ's now! :) But hey DJ, please, play it at 48 rpm coz I'm slowing down in my old age! :) Start planning for November 2009 now! And don't die before it happens!

Thinking of TNC this evening, and need to spend some time doing something prior to that, so anyone gonna definitely be at BBC, or elsewhere, for an after-work relax?

Whilst searching for something completely different, I came across an online copy of James Dunnigan's The Complete Wargames Handbook . Dunnigan, along with Redmond Simonsen is proably the wargame designer of the late twentieth century, being largely responsible for the growth of the hobby during the Seventies with the magazine Strategy & Statctics, and the publishers SPI.

Scanning it I found a very interesting analysis of who and what wargamers weere based on many years of S&T feedback forms followed by "a correlation and factor analysis". Bear in mind that this was first published in 1992, and obviously things have changed since then, and Games Workshop were hardly beginning, but I thought those on me flist who were interested in the theoretical side of gaming might find the following extracts fun. )

The asides on RPG's and politics are also amusing!

The 2007 Darwin Awards have been announced.

Sim City (or should I say Micropolis) has been open-sourced and it has even been compiled for the OLPC.

Our local PC tech actually managed to resurrect my work lap top, which is good coz it means I won't have to re-do some work or re-installor my development tools this week. Though that does mean I have little to do at work. Hmmm, I wonder how hard it would be to port Micropolis to Java....

Looking forward to a brief catch up with [ profile] seraphs_folly at the airport this evening.

Well, I have now completed Halo 3. G wants me to start immediately on Gears of War. But I'm taking a break.

I really enjoyed driving the Warthog at the end (and at other times as well). I think an entire game of Warthog driving could be fun. Some of the animation at the end was a wee bit disappointing, as was implying the hero was dead.

In New Zealand, it's my birthday! Over here it's a quiet Saturday night. The Corporation, where NMA are playing tomorrow night, turns out to be two blocks down the hill and round the corner, easy stagger home distance. G is in his room, I think watching downloaded television ( I need to get Heroes episode 8 off of him), and his mum, J, is sitting on the couch playing with her DS. Though she calls it her "pokemon". :)

Ah well perhaps I wil go and see what Gears of War is like for a bit.

Something I just found out about, so maybe others I know haven't heard yet. The latest Dynasty Warriors game for PS3 and X-Box 360 is Dynasty Warriors : Gundam.

Follow the link to see the trailers and stuff. Unfortunately it only seems to cover pre-Gundam Seed characters, but still the combination of the Dynasty Warriors style with Mobile Suits seems perfect to me!

via /., a toy hydrogen fuel-cell powered car that comes complete with it's own solar-powered refuelling station! For $80. Isn't that delicious! That seems to have obvious hack potential!

And those on my flist that like computer games or Warhammer might find the latest report on Warhammer : Master of Chaosover at Hexus interesting. If you can't be bothered reading the article, you should at least take a peak at the latest screenshots!

There's also screenshots of Tau and Necrons from the next Dawn of War expansion Dark Crusade

Meanwhile, over on El Reg ,Cormac O'Reilly belabours the point I have been trying to get first IBM, and now EDS, to understand for years, that servers, even high availability redundant servers, are a commodity item, and that the conventional wisdom of server costs, that it's the hardware that costs the money, has long since been false. As always it's Google that drives the savings!

Also, light travels faster in reverse and in another article, , one fifth of 18-24 year-old Brits have been dumped or have dumped someone via SMS, and only one in seven Brits are polite enough to switch off their mobile phones during sex.
