Date: 2007-07-16 09:11 am (UTC)NZ gets 50,000 strikes per year.
Washington is roughly the size of ... hmmm... the North Island if you squashed it into a rectangle shape. (It take six hours to drive from Seattle to the eastern border of the state, and about.... 4.5 hours to drive it top to bottom).
Oregon is roughly the same size.
I'm betting the strikes were on the east side of both states - as it's drier and more prone to extreme weather. And it's where most of the conservative folks live, so I'm going to adjust your post to say God doesn't like the conservative people on those states!

Date: 2007-07-16 09:38 am (UTC)But yeah, I agree it's the conservatives that are being targeted! :)
That's good news!
Date: 2007-07-20 11:19 am (UTC)Vanessa (excitabubble) just noted that Hawke's Bay [also on the east side] gets way more lightning than here in Wellington. ...And it's generally much more conservative there too.
...hmmm
