Wizards of the Coast Throws a Tanty, Everyone (except on-line retailers like DriveThruRPG) Laughs

Wizards of the Coast, publisher of Dungeons & Dragons, has pulled all digital editions of its products from on-line stores today in response to finding that its new D&D Player's Handbook is being illegally distributed over P2P and file-sharing websites.

Currently this includes access to publications you have already bought. This is a breach of contract. In my opinion, WoTC are likely to get hit by a class action suit for breach of contract if they don't reverse this childishly petulant, and ill-advised, decision quickly.

Not to mention that digital editions of their books have been available illegally since p2p arose (even if they were just OCRed scans)

Not defending what has happened in any way, but I'm sure DriveThru (and its ilk) will have protected itself in the fine print of the user agreement with the purchaser. I know I would have made sure that there was some clause covering third-party actions...

Hahaha its almost as if people didn't just scan the books and distribute them on p2p sites beforehand anyway ... oh wait ...
