Painting, Wallpapering, and Maintenance

Just noticed that I'd gone and queued the last few entries, rather than actually posting them. It's a useful feature, allows you write when off line, but not when you forget that you have done so and have the date set wrong.

So anyone who was hanging out for my pearls of wisdom, you just got a glut! Don't gorge yourself!

Anyway last entry was Sunday. Been busy since. I have actually done some physical labor for a change, using the steamer to remove wallpaper from the hallway.

Ele is booked in for a thousand-mile service, a valve grind and reboring at the Boulcott Clinic on Friday. I wanted to put new Weber's and nitrous injection on her, but the mechanic says that might be too much stress for such an old chassis.

(Seriously, Ele's having an exploratory for what we hope is something like kidney stones.)

DreamWatch

So, there I was on a double date with evie_fae, jarratt_gray, and, of all people, tam suncrow.

We're discussing going and having a meal, and then all of sudden there we are eating it.

I comment "That was a quick scene change".

jarratt_gray says "Yeah, well I edited everything up to this point, because we're short on time and none of it added anything to the story."

Meal ensues, lots of chat and stuff. It ends, and then while waiting for the bill and the grls are in the girls room, I notice the bartender, who looks a wee bit like house_monkey dressed up as Michael Caine from Cocktail.

He's pouring beer out of glasses and half empty bottles into a large bottle unti he has a full bottle at whcih point he, using some strange bartendery magic, puts the bottle-top on with his bare hand and places the bottle in the cooler next to a whole load of other ones.

I feel a little sick, as I'm a beer drinker.

Then I awake to cramps in my calf.

Absolutely Fucked!

Well, today I tried to clear out all the crap from under the deck at the back of the house in preparation for digging a real drainage ditch so that we don''t get the threeat of floods anymore.

The temporary ditch I dug down the side earlier was enough to prevent what would have otherwise been a flood last week, but it was very close. Another couple of hours downpour and the water would have been over the back door sill.

As panda_pitt and Ele have recently spent a lot of time doing up his room, and we're goinng to be putting flooring down soon, and will also be looking at redecorating the other two down stairs rooms, I'd rather be sure we don't have a risk of further flloding

But in order to do thois I have to mvoe all the crap that;s built up under ther over the years, including firewood, and a hundred-odd concrete roof tiles, that ware heavy enough that moving in threes of fours is about all I can manage. But I'm so old and out of condition that by the end of the pile I was having difficulty lifting two of them at a time.

The muscle just above the knee is already aching from all the leg bending I was doing, and I my arms haven't even started aching yet. I know they will. I have had a shower and now at least feel clean, but I am not going to do anything else today!
