Watched Frailty on 3 whilst doing my ironing and sorting the washing . Ironed thirteen shirts last night, and put one back in the wash because of a noticeable stain.

I'll try not to spoil it, but Frailty has a relatively obvious twist at the end and is disturbing in it's implication that several of the serial killers in it actually are on missions from god, although there are many other potential explanations including mere coincidence. There is only one seemingly likable character in the whole movie, and even he isn't by the end. Well, possibly one other, but that's debatable. Certainly an interesting investigation of a dysfunctional family.

Went out on the deck for a clove afterwards before going to bed. The moon was up and bright and the stars were clear in the crisp air. I've missed the moon. Silence except for a morepork, a nice change after the season of the cicadas.

I was enjoying the silence and moonlight when I heard the horrible sound of a demon close by.

I quickly identified it as a possum, but in the split second before doing so, I felt a delicious thrill of fear, one that began with a head rush and then tingled across my skin, down from my scalp and across my shoulders until it dissappated in my body. Lovely.

Being a male, I vampire-hissed in return, after all this was my territory not the possum's and was rewarded by the possum remaining silent whilst I was out there.

In the morning I had a dream of which I remember fragments. I, and a number of friends, had been invited to a meeting where the rumour was that we were going to be given something special. I remember the white with red logo folders we were all handed as we entered the hall.

It had loose chairs, and I had a (friendly) chair-pushing fight with a Japanese guy I didn't know to see who got to sit next to three cute girls. They giggled as we thrust our chairs (whilst sitting on them) into each other like bulldozers. All in fun, just to fill the time.

Then the session started.

It turned out it was about a total immersion computer roleplaying game, and without realizing it we had already been injected into the system. a friendly action sequence ensued where we proceeded to fight around the room wuxia style. I remember using the back of a chair to launch myself up into the air, and bouncing off the heads of other people as I ran across the hall, before ending balancing on a precarious point a la the Dragons in Clamo's 'X'.

The game finished and I found myself hanging in a mid-air harness with support wires and cables spreading out spider-web style around me as I removed the head-set.

[livejournal.com profile] mr_orgue was involved in the demo, and as I helped in pack up the equipment I made a comment that the CPU box driving the system didn't look anything special. [livejournal.com profile] mr_orgue replied that it may not look much, but inside was a "mesh processor". This obviously meant something to me, and I was impressed.
