Dreamwatch : Desperately Seeking AV
Jun. 4th, 2005 08:54 amSlept rather well. Ele's coughs not too bad now.
The dream I had before waking this morning was set in another of those impossibly huge, rambly houses that you end up in, in dreams. Well, at least for me, the concept of houses that are impossibly large, and contain far too many impossible rooms, potentially TARDIS-like in their construction, seems to re-occur regularly.
The other thing that seems to occur regularly is that I am roleplaying in my dreams.
This dream started with a rather intense scene which I was in the middle of storytelling when I got a call on the phone. The phone in question was the house phone, which means as I felt responsible for it, it must have been a house I owned, rented or otherwise felt responsible for. But it was like the phone we currently have at home, it was a radio frequency portable with a land-line attached base-station.
The call was for Andrew V. The scene I was STing and had to get back to added the urgency, I had players waiting for me, didn't want to lose the mood any more than we already had.
So I began to search the house for AV. I remember checking by the pool, which took some time as there were lots of people there, and several enticingly distractive young ladies. Continued on through the games room, where people were playing billiard's in1920's costumes, past the "Fuel" coffee stand in the basement, that was being manned by a couple of friends, past the squash courts, both the one that was still under construction and the one that was in use, and up steep stairs to the second storey.
At this point my memory becomes hazy, but there were several scenes that reminded me of movies, the ballroom scene from Titanic, the orgy scene from Eyes Wide Shut, a corporate party complete with germanic looking goons in sharp suits straight out of Lethal Weapon II. My mind was telling me these were all different LARP's going on in this large house. I still hadn't found AV and I was getting desperate, so I interrupted a couple of people in the corporate scene, and asked them if they'd seen him.
They said he was in deep and couldn't be reached. For some reason I accepted this and told the caller who I had been chatting to off and on during the search the same thing.
The search ended unsuccessfully, and now I tried to make my way back to he scene I was supposed to be STing but I couldn't remember where it was! A new search commenced, which involved sewers and maintenance access hatches, and "steam tunnels" and lots of silhouettes in the mist and steam.
I don't think I've found them yet.
So if in your dreams, you see a group of LARPers stuck out in the mists somewhere waiting for their ST to bring them back down, please save them for me!

Date: 2005-06-04 12:24 am (UTC)I've had dreams in, I swear, the exact same tardis-like roleplaying mansion of doom. And yeah, if you leave the game you were in, your chances of finding it again are very slim without a guide figure. I once got led back to a game by the Magpie, I think, but that's about it. And the storyteller is so vital, they're usually the only one who can break scene in the roleplaying dreams I've had. I hope your players all wake up.
