No more memes before I update!
Aug. 21st, 2005 08:26 pmYes, been busy, busy, busy all weekend. Still need to do ironing, but will sit and let my dinner digest while drinking my coffee and writing this.
Friday
Went up to
katipocafe and met up with many of the usuals. Had a nice long chat with
bekitty in which I learnt that she knew someone who remembers me from 1978! Freaky! And they knew it was me just from my first name and that I did roleplaying! Maybe
jaadfan is right.
So that means I'll have to go to the next TES munch to say hello. Gives me a good excuse, kept meaning to, ever since Ele told me to look for other women. May as well look for the sort I want, huh? :)
Chat continued until the band started. It was a newish looking group called Ditch, all well trimmed hair. Unfortunately they weren't that good. They did elevator music style covers of common seventies rock songs, such as Neil Young's Heart of Gold and Dylan's Knockin' On Heavens Door. They didn't do them with any feeling though, and I felt I could have got up then and there and both sung and played better than the lead. At least I'd have put more feeling into it!
Finally it was too much and I left for Indigo. Indigo was dead when I got there, so I got to do the sit alone with a whiskey thing, until
evie_fae &
jarratt_gray turned up. Shortly after that
taraxgoat and his fiancée turned up too. We filled in time till James' band The Evils came on.
They were so much better! Staccato beats and hard driving drum and bass, and of course James' guitar. At times they sounded almost like early Clash, though they'll probably kill me for saying that! I had my body vibrated this time! It's a shame that Indigo was still pretty dead, as they would have been good to really dance to.
Once their set was finished we chatted to James until the lure of women took him away from us. I went home with Jarratt and Evie, as I felt tired and I didn't have enough money for a late night anyway. So I went to bed relatively early
Saturday & Sunday
Spent the entire weekend doing all the cleaning that Ele hasn't been doing over the last few months (years?) The place was disgusting. I sort of left it when Ele was here, because, well, she would always complain when I tried to do something, and when I asked what I could do, she always said "Nothing".
Now with no-one around to stop me I went and did what I am good at. Cleaning. My first two jobs involved cleaning. I used to clean Horowhenua College (when I went to it!) with Darren and Russell. Then, on leaving school, I cleaned Kimberly Psychopaedic Hospital. That was real eye-opener, both socially and philosophically. I learned about nurses first hand, smoked dope with them in secret places, got a kiss from the boss's daughter, and got chatted up, and er, "sexually assaulted" by some of the older female patients.
So, anyway, I cleaned house. I am now felling good about myself. Still more things to do, but I've got a good start, and I've also done the ongoing chores, washing, dishes, shopping, food. Listened to a lot of good music as well! Even started looking at the garden while having a smoke break. I feel far more driven and interested in getting things done now that there isn't the ongoing pall of Ele's disapproval hanging over me.
What was it that Ele used to do during the day when I was at work and the kids were at school? I'd like to know.
In fact, I got so into cleaning in Satyrday, I totally forgot to go to Ant's birthday party. I looked up, and it was almost 8pm, and I hadn't showered. So I flagged it (Sorry Ant'! Happy Birthday!)
Anyway, I'm going to do some ironing now!
