Been playing with Google Maps.

Here's my place, at least near as I can tell :




Why don't you do the same? Start with this view of Wellington and double clicck on where you think ypu are to centre the picture and then zoom in. Note, you can't zoom to the last two levels of zoom in New Zealand!

I can almost but not quite pick out my house using it. Pity it does not go that next step lower.

If you live in the lower valley, you can get aerial photos of your house online from the Hutt City (http://gis.huttcity.govt.nz/pes/presentation/compass/search.asp) site. Don't know if the Upper Hutt council offers the same service.
