Heh, update time.

UP Sidhe!
Went to the Unlimited Potential AGM last night. No, I'm not suddenly becoming a yuppie. I went primarily because there was a talk from Mario of Sidhe Interactive. That and the free food and drink.

It was quite interesting. Sidhe are responsible for one of the few PSP-only games GripShift, which Mario described as "Monkey Bounce but in cars" . It includes several mini-games such as "Penguin Bowling" where your drive your car like a bowling ball at a wedge of evil-looking giant penguins. I wonder if any of the designers have been to the Mountains of Madness? They are probably best know for the NRL Game which has hugely successful and gave them the luxury to produce their own games and pick and choose between licensed properties, rather than having to take everything they could get.

An example of the latter was them having to work on two PS2 Barbie games, one of which was Barbie's Summer Vacation. Mario seemed a bit sheepish discussing this one! :) But he did point out that it was a game in which the player could not lose, with Barbie encouraging the player to try again when ever they failed, and continuing until they succeeded, which is quite an interesting concept for a computer game, where you are normally kicked back to the start of the level at least

Mario played the trailers and some movies from GripShift, NRL 2 and the new Melbourne Cup, a wonderfully detailed horse race simulator which with it's realistic camera techniques and horse musculature animation makes me think that this will do for horse-racing games what Gran Tourismo did for driving games, move them to that next level. Reportedly there is a huge market for such games in Japan, and they're hoping to break into that market with this licensed game.

Phoenix
Briefly dropped into Phoenix, chatted with the peeps especially Alex, who confirmed that he did in fact enjoy Serenity, even though he had not seen Firefly, [livejournal.com profile] michaelchance who tried to get me to reveal who a certain person was in one of my dreams,. and [livejournal.com profile] stephanie_pegg who wondered how I could wear so much black on nice days, and then walked to the train with The Opinionated Bitch

Poll Discussion
Well, this is interesting, apparently a number of people think I need them and three of their friends.

I'm going to assume that's flattering and that people think I have a lot of stamina. Or something.

That's followed by needing money. True I do, or I'd quit my job and become a street performer, sort of like a Joe Cocker impersonator, only with a guitar. Actually I should try and dig out Billy Bragg and similar old guitar songs. from that school

And then there's finding out about Dewayne and Nicole. This is obviously a need that must be satisfied! Well, I already know that[livejournal.com profile] jenni_talula claims to know the answers. I shall work on her this weekend! :)

Interestingly, no-one thinks I need a spine. Perhaps I should have it removed and live as jelly-fish.

Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azkaban
Finished this book yesterday, Have to sya that I agree with those that say it's a better book that the first two. The first two were OK stories, and humurous. But this ne was the first one that really grabbed me.

It even raised emotion in me other than amusement. Harry's behaviour in the final scenes felt real, and I felt what he did. Of course, I'm probably a sucker for boys with glasses and scars who haven't got fathers, because I'm one myself. I don;t remember my father.

I believe I briefly met my father when I was a child on the docks of Naples (or some other Italian port city), but he was introduced to me as an uncle, I think I only found oit much later that it was my father. and all I really remember is that he bought me this amazing orange toy crane, that worked! I don;t know what happened to the toy though. Like many of my possessions in the early years, like my collection of Beano comics, it went missing.

So, as you can imagine, Harry's feelings over finding out more about his a father and meeting his friends, were easy to understand for me, and may mean that my opinion of the work is coloured somewhat by that connection. Still, there are many books that appeal most strongly to individuals with the appropriate expereince, William Burroughs Wild Boys is one such book as is the late Hunter S. Thompson's Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas.

Bleed-through
When I arrive back in Silverstream last night, with my imagination full of Potter memes, and thinking of one of the reasons Evie wanted me to read these books,. so I would understand what The Grim was after my report of a large black dog, my suspicions/imagination were aroused

As I walked to my car from the station noted a suspiciously parked car with it's lights on, just ten feet from my own, which was one of the few cars still parked there. IT remained there throughout the whole time I walked to my car iand it made no attemot to move until I drove off. No-one from the train went to the car.

As I drove up Pinehaven Road, I spied a cat, tortiseshell, similar in aspect to Tryss Sitting upright and alert in the gutter on the far side of the road. It watched me drive past with nary a movement. even though it was a cat in the road, and I was in a car driving along that road at speed.

Watched Clone High followed by some Monty Python with [livejournal.com profile] panda_pitt before going to bed. Python is stil quite funny, and Clone High is in a similar style to Power Puff Girls

Slept well last night. More Destiny at Piwakawaka 2nite!

Your tags are messed up. ^^;

And I assume none of us think you need a spine because you already have one. Were you to remove it and live as a jellyfish, I think your results would dramatically change. Likewise, I think were we all more confident of the anonymity of the poll, the sensitivity training option would get more hits. :P

I too was thinking it of as "another spine" as you already have one. Could anyone need more than one???

Fixed the tags, thanks.

Y'know, I've been wondering what "Sensitivty Training" would ccnsist of.

I'm imagining something like being strapped in a sensory deprivation unit and then having feathers dropped on my skin, which I experience as like punches, because of the heightened sensitivity caused by the deprivation!

It just seems wrong having someone called Mario making games for a Sony console :-/

Yes I did have a silent snicker over that one, especially as their game is basically a 3D platform game.

"wondered how I could wear so much black on nice days"

Well, my answer to those questions always is "well, it may help if I owned something that wasn't black, but I don't..."
