Had plans to do stuff tonight. Those plans did not eventuate.
panda_pitt cooked up some ramen noodles with vegetables and soy sauce. Very filling.
Spent the evening exchanging messages with
seraphs_folly and watching music and CSI re-runs.
Just went out and had a clove while looking at the stars
Was reminded again of Jefferson Starship's Have You Seen the Stars Tonight?
Saw a falling star blaze briefly above the black trees.

Date: 2005-10-25 08:30 pm (UTC)That is something I miss about living in the country - with no streetlights and no near neighbours if we turned off the houselights the sky looked almost misty with stars.

Date: 2005-10-25 08:58 pm (UTC)This is completely random, but someone on the Diatribe forum asked about LARPs running in Wellington (http://www.diatribe.co.nz/viewtopic.php?t=144). I mentioned that you were involved in a game called "Victorian Nights" but didn't know much about it and someone else asked if you'd like to write it up on the forum. So would you be interested in writing it up on the forum?

Date: 2005-10-27 05:41 am (UTC)Where LARPS are generally big social gatherings where players stay in characters most of the evening chatting with other in character players, Victorian Nights is more like a traditional roleplaying game with a small number of people. The only existing system for the game is that the scenes are run using live roleplay. Prop, space, movement and expression are all important parts of portraying ones character, as they would be in a big social LARP, but not in a traditional table top game. Essentially however this si just a standard roleplaying game with a few friends, so it isn't really something one can join. i.e. Unlike a big social LARP it isn't actually a club.
If I get the chance I might write up some stuff about it just to share my experience of running such a game.
As for LARPS around Wellington, great question. I have been considering running a big Vampire game with a close knit coterie system and 3-4 scenes per evening, each involving 1 or 2 cotories with all other players playing random or ongoing NPCs. The difficultly obviously is time and getting something off the ground. I certainly have the ideas for what I want to do and how I want to run it, but it is quite a big commitment, even it it only ran bi monthly instead of monthly.
Anyway enough blathering.
