Date: 2007-09-20 10:52 am (UTC)Image exchange is not the first thing I ask for, and neither is it the first thing the women I talk to ask for. Although admittedly, these days I usually have an image available of myself from the start. But then I'm a vain creature who thinks he looks pretty hot for his age! :)
In one case I meet the lady without seeing a photo, and in another, the photo looked nothing like the lady I actually met (the lady actually looked far better than the photo!).
In my experience people don't ask questions about appearance, unless it is to be able to recognize each other when they meet.
Not once did I use voice chat. Voice chat is not something you can do if there's anyone else around the house, especially if you're cheating!
I'd cause my sons a lot of embarrassment if I said aloud the things I type in windows or email, or they heard what the ladies were saying to me!
They could also have met through a system like Craig's List which is really quite old style BBS primarily text focussed, and they're not necessarily on a broadband connection.
So yeah, it's believable to me. :)
