Major Fail for Google
Sep. 3rd, 2008 11:00 amI was looking forward to playing with Google Chrome today.
Unfortunately the release dose not bode well, as they have utilized the old and crappy Google Updater for the release, which is such a broken internet application that it can't handle passworded proxy servers, like almost every other internet using application can. They didn't even bother trying to utilize the existing operating system network configuration information, though admittedly that's common amongst open source coders who don't realize that customizing for specific environments doesn't make them traitors to the cause, it makes them heroes to users.
So that's a major fail for Google, I can't even install Google Chrome, because they can't handle simple internet proxy security configuration. If they can't work with simple security like that, it does not make me confident that all their talk in the comic about security will transfer through to an actually secure product.
