  1. Have you always been a cat person?

Yes. At least since I was allowed to have them. My first familiar was a black cat similar to the one I have now called Geisha. She and her brother Shinto (who once caught a seagull) came from a local shelter when we lived in Porirua. She left us when I was on course in the Air Force, and my current familiar, Shady (the real Slim Shady) came to me in turn from the airforce.

My Squadron Leader complained of a squeaking noise from under his office. A freind called ‘Joe 90’ crawled under the office and drew out a tiny mewling kitten, the runt of the litter, obviously abandoned by the mother. She rode around in Joe 90’s overalls pocket all day, except when various people were trying to feed her milk and stuff.

When shift ended, Joe couldn’t take the kit to barracks, and I was on my bike, so we found a cardboard box that used to contain an anti-collision beacon, put her in that, and I rode home with her in a box on the back of my bike. Ele took care of her that night and managed to feed her using an eye-dropper, and she’s now our oldest cat.

  2. When did you begin RPG-ing and what was your first one?

My first RPG was in an M21 underbarrel attchment on an M16 and... Oh wait, you probably meant role playing game, not rocket propelled grenade, didn’t you?

It was at a wargaming convention in Auckland, in either 1975 or 1976, the game was classic beige-box Dungeon’s and Dragons. We sarted palying after the last wargaming round at my billets’s place after dinner. We played until three in the morning, and my fighter was fourth level by the time we finished.

  3. You hold in your hands a device with a button, which if pressed, will make all Microsoft related products in the known universe vanish. Do you press it and why?

I press it. Because if you’ve got something that crazy you should friggin’ well use it!
I mean, that sort of capability implies magical powerz.

If I actually had a believeable way to just disable all Microsoft systems, such as through some super-worm, I probably wouldn’t release it.

If I had a way of owning all Microsoft systems, I would use it to distribute propaganda calling for the trial of Bush, Blair, and Howerd for instigating an illegal war, complete with all the evidence that was needed to convict them, and people would have to read it all before being able to use their computers again.

Then, if the vuln hadn’t been fixed, I’d use it to for other propaganda purposes, such as getting the US to sign the Kyoto protocols, etc.

  4. It's two years ago and you see the box of cash fall out of the money van somewhere near Kaikoura. No one is there to witness your actions. What do you do?

I suspect I’d keep it to begin with, if only to look at it or roll around in it. Depending on who it belonged to I would act differently.

If ity belonged to a bank or a government I wouldn’t want to try and spend it, ar least until I coud be sure the numbers weren’t recorded anywhere. I don’t see any reason why I should help out banks or governments, they steal from us all the time. It’s karma that they get stolen from in return.

If the numbers were recorded I’d destroy it to create confusion and mystery. Hail Eris!

If the numbers weren’t recorded... sorry, finders keepers. Salvage rights.

On the other hand, if the news reported it actually belonged to an individual or local company, I’d probably give it back. I don’t have anything against the little guy.

  5. Are you looking forward to seeing either the Hitchiker's Guide film or the next Star Wars film? Why?

Yes. Because I enjoyed the trailer to HHGTtG and it’s got Alan Rickman in it. It may not be the same as the old HHGTtG, but it would have to be pretty bad to be worse than the TV series, and even that was enjoyable in places.

With Star Wars, I actually want to see what finally turns Anakin into Vader, even though I can guess I want the suspense to end. And maybe it will actualy be good now that Lucas isn’t in sole charge.
