Yes, a late update, because life with a capital L and game with a capital G has been getting in the way of merely recording them.

Friday Evening
So the train pooka meet with ex-Nephandus C on the station, and chatted waiting for the train which took some while to arrive. Somehow we lost the ex-Nephandus while boarding the train but later we could see him slyly watching us from further back in the train.

The train ride was very slow. It sounded like a shopping trolley had gotten caught under the train somewhere and was rattling and scraping along as the train did. When we reached Taita, the driver got out and inspected the train, and there was speculation that we'd have to get out too.

But the work of the train pooka seemed to have paid off, as the majority of people on the train were laughing and treating it as a bit of a joke. A group of older women (Oh, all right, they were probably my age) were sitting next to us and they were quite enjoying it, including checking out the train guard, who was a well-built Maori in a quite tight uniform shirt, and putting words into the mouth of the driver as he hurried to the cabin with a book like "I've got the manual now! Maybe I can figure out how to take the brake off this time".

After we left Taita, [livejournal.com profile] evie_fae txted [livejournal.com profile] jarratt_gray to say that we'd be late and he might as well head home and I'd drop her up to the house, as otherwise he'd be sitting at the station for even longer. This lead J to say that this was just a plan so that I could go up to their house on Friday too!
(See earlier posts.)

We changed modes of transportation and entered Pinehaven on my trusty white steed, Barina. Unfortunately Barina was so used to taking me home that he went straight past the turn off we should have taken, leading to speculation that I was kidnapping [livejournal.com profile] evie_fae.

At first that seemed like a good idea, but we quickly realized that there was too much evidence pointing in my direction, and even the stupidest of policemen would realize that they'd need to question me about it, after having been seen with Evie on the train and her having called J to say I'd bring her home, and then I'd giggle or something and give it away.

Even more important, I didn't have a secret house or box buried in the garden, so the kidnap was aborted

Ele has been sick and coughing a lot at night so I ended up being far too awake at 2.am, and everyone else had gone to bed, so I unconsciously emulated [livejournal.com profile] mr_orgue and went Crime-Fighting.

Satyrday
A lazy day, starting late, fussing around family in the morning. and then spending time writing out ideas and plots and character positions and stuff for Game in the evening.

I pop on over to pick up my role-playing retinue, before taking the gypsy Game-show on the road to Ngaio to a house that has the CD record collection of doom. [livejournal.com profile] evie_fae and I boggle over the huge number of rare CD's and she chooses Dead Can Dance as the first piece of backing music. When we bring it out, Jackie freakily says it was exactly what she would have chosen, and a favourite album, but she wanted to give me choice.

I won't go into detail about the game as someone may decide to write it up in more detail later, but let me say that l was mightily impressed by the performance of all the players, and I while there were a few rough edges on my part as I hadn't figured out how to properly end the story, I managed to throw in a few ad lib characters and scenes, and [livejournal.com profile] jarratt_gray with a hint from [livejournal.com profile] evie_fae gave us what I feel was an appropriate end. I really enjoyed seeing the scenes I had plotted pan out in front of me, and loved the surprises that the players threw into it. I also liked the level of trust people exhibited, even as their characters were being made more paranoid, and things were getting worse for them

I hope the humorous episodes were appropriately balanced with the nasty bits and it worked for other people, and thanks again to my posse.

On the way back to Pinehaven we discussed the idea of taking the concept of a guerilla role-playing team that would randomly turn up at people's houses and subject them to a role-playing experience!

[livejournal.com profile] jarratt_gray (I believe) floated the idea of combining the floating game idea with a Mega-Roleplaying type weekend, turning up at someone's place in the morning subjecting to them to a game, and then dragging them onto another place, and subjecting someone else to a role-playing experience and so-on, building to a live game of some sort at the end of the day. However we felt that such a concept deserves to be held over until [livejournal.com profile] mr_orgue returns.

We stopped off to get some milk at the gas-station, and then (at least I think it was then) we discussed an idea for a cheesy Japanese game, probably using D&D D20, where all the characters had silly, but appropriate, pseudo-Japanese names, such as the samurai paladin Domo Arigato, and the apologetic thief, Gomen Nasai. Had coffee and talked a but more, before going home to trawl the cyber channels until sleep made my typing fingers fail

Sunday
I was asleep for maybe an hour when I was awoken by something, a twitchy cat, another cough, who knows, but awakening like this caused me to remember what I was dreaming, which I probably wish I hadn't. All I'm going to say about it, is that it involved a group of people raping me. The one line I remember from the dream as I awoke, was the leader of the group turning to an obviously incompetent subordinate and saying "What part don't you understand of "bring me a 1978 Camaro drive-shaft' ?"
At least I awoke at that point.

After a wet and windy sleepless night we wake to more rain. No soccer for Ben today

Ele is bouncing around to C&C on C4 being quite happy, possibly because we had a doggy dawn-breaker.

I haven't noticed before the interesting display of the word "Freedom" in the C&C video, which emphasizes the fact that the word 'freedom' is constructed out of a suffix that implies the reverse of the first syllable. Sorry, random Sunday morning musings.

After several thematicallly related songs on C4, Ele has decide she is going to run away to Italy, and pick up an Italian lover.

Need to do a lot of tidying and arranging of Trade Me sales and stuff, to try and get some of the crap out of lounge.

And now we're up to date.

I had a fantastic time, despite being horribly ill. I was really doped up on medicine and afraid that my performance suffered, but you brought in so many scenarios that made me truly react, rather than have to "act"!

Poor Professor Proton!! I rather liked him!! I have to say, if a demon ever came to me in the form of a cute cute red panda I'd be a slave to it too!

Thanks for coming up to Ngaio. Really appreaciate that. :)

Glad you enjoyed it and I certainly didn't notice your illness in your play, though admittedly you did get to quite a bit of lying down!

Thanks, man, you're surely better at identiying dance music than I!
True, it's pure cheese, but sometimes it's fun to wallow in the cholesterol, as it were.
