OK, first off I'd like to apologize to those whom I could have already mentioned this to in person today, they know who they are. But I didn't want to ruin their mood.

So, just the facts.

Eleonore and I last night (Thursday) decided that we are definitely breaking up.

I no longer like what Eleonore is, and I suspect she may feel the same about me. Neither of us feel like changing to become what the other person wants, we've tried that for too long and it just makes us unhappy.

Practically, we will probably remain living together for a while yet, logistics are always the most difficult part, especially for practical people like us.

I am going to try and treat Eleonore as a live-in housekeeper for now, to try to stop those little patterns of touch and word usage that imply a close relationship. But it's going to be hard to break those habits.

Don't feel sorry for me, there's very little change in my current state as far as I'm concerned, it just means I can stop pretending we're going to be able to fix this, and move on.

On a somewhat oblique note, when we saw you entering the theatre yesterday, Jenni and I were both struck by you looking markedly younger and very calm (I said Jesusy, but I promise I say that at least once about every man-with-beard I know :) ).

So, yeah. Mebbe endings and resolutions are more of a youth-serum than stress and maybes.

How the kids handling it?, or gonna handle it you think??? I remember when my olds split, I was in my mid 20's so it wasn't a huge issue, but then again I always saw them just as the people I flatted with for the first 18 years.

Well, Luke seems OK with it.

The youngest doesn't really know/understand, and the two eldest aren't at home right now so I don't really know.

Still they both know things have been bad and that we haven't been sleeping together for a while, so it's probably not really a surprise by now.
