Early Night
Oct. 7th, 2005 08:45 pmWriting this on the train as sheets of water flow down the sides of the carriage.
Met up with
neongraal and
stephanie_pegg at
katipocafe as planned and had a good chat, as well as briefly touching base with
rivet and
bekitty.
Weather was absolutely terrible, and despite a coffee and a mulled wine I still felt quite tired. This combined with the terrible weather (hail, lightning and sheets of rain) actually made me feel like going home and and curling up with a book for a change, perhaps brought on by
stephanie_pegg's intention to read her newly acquired copy of Anansi Boys.
Yes folks, maybe I'm finally getting old. Actually, on reflection it's probably because before Ele left me, I would stay out just to avoid being in the house with her, or in a defiant way I was determined to be out having a good time despite her not being with me. I think I dreaded having to go home and be in the same house as her and yet know that she was still not going to be with me. Now, it's my home and its relaxing being there, rather than being more stress-inducing than work.
So, yes I'm going back to my nice home. Sure an it will be cold and dark when I get there, but that can soon be fixed with a few kilowatts of power. The word "power" there triggers thoughts of Harry Nielsen's Riding Along. Maybe I'll drag him out when I get home, and show just how poorly I can sing in comparison.
Ah, must pack up the laptop, almost there!
Home now.
It was still pouring down when I hit Silverstream, but the trusty 'ol leather trenchcoat meant only the ends of my trousers got damp. The Silverstream was up, and I got milk and yoghurt for the morning, so organized!
