Long Weekend
Mar. 20th, 2006 07:25 pmI spent a wonderful long weekend with
seraphs_folly. We ate much good food, and watched a lot of anime, finishing Chobits and all I currently have of Wolf's Rain. Any more details might have to be left to a more limited distribution post than this, even though I would love to shout it all from the rooftops. Suffice it say that I am supremely sated and slept very soundly on Sunday night.
Friday we ate a late brunch at Cafe Roma(?), Saturday morring a lovely Italian crepe at Drexels, Saturday evening another visit to Strawberry Fair, I had the same vegetarian filo with feta and spinach, and a Devil's Dream for dessert.
Caught up with my eldest son on Saturday night. He seems to be well. We ate at Manee Thai, cashew chicken, vegetarian sate, and some sort of pork on toast.
Sunday back to the regular Belgian bar, for waffles with chocolate sauce, and a quick snak of chocolate cake and coffee before I was dropped off at the airport. .
seraphs_folly is to be commended for her stamina in getting me to the airport, as by then she was more fully feelig the effects of a sinusy cold she's had. It was good to catch up via ICQ later, to be sure she got home OK aftwerwards.
Throughout the weekend we were spoken to by the spirits via the medium of number plates. I think that communication mechanism is a good one for a coincidental mage.
I went to bed early for me on Sunday, and slept well, finding that somehow during the night had migrated right across the bed. Unfortunately I'd forgot to reset my bedside clock for daylight saving, so I woke up earlier than necessary from a dream about Venetian traders.
In the dream, I was such a trader, and we were meeting merchants from far to the East for the very first time. We had no shared languages. We were pointing at jade and other items, and holding up fingers for amounts, after agreeing on a coin as a basis for trade. There were many Venetian merchants representing different houses, but only one "spokesman" for the orientals. We could tell that the lack of a central organization on our part was considered a weakness to our bargaining position by the orientals.
It was a remarkably detailed dream, I could give a credible police description of the oriental spokesman, and several of the trade items. I was wearing clothing that reminded me of that worn by various people in the recent BBC TV production of Casanova. I was reminded of the dreams
seraphs_folly described to me on Sunday morning.
Today I have been on a "process" course. Everyone was amazed that I hadn't done one in five years working for my employer. Day went reasonably quickly, but lack of computer access meant I yet have to properly catch up with the thousands of posts that have gone through since Thursday night on my flist. So sorry people if I failed to comment on things you might have expected me too.
I now have at least four different things I could be doing Saturday evening. Some of them are going to have to be dropped I'm afraid, so I apologize in advance to those I don't get to hang with on Saturday.
Must get my DNS serve up and running!
Finally I'd just like to extend my thanks to
seraphs_folly for being such a wonderful hostess. I'm looking forward to my next visit love! :)
