Via [livejournal.com profile] holding_pattern. These are (reportedly) the top 106 books most often marked as "unread" by LibraryThing's users (as of today).

Instructions : Bold what you have read, italicize what you started but couldn't finish, and strike through what you couldn't stand. The numbers after each one are the number of LT users who used the tag of that book.

And I think they really need to add the authors to that list. For instance, which of the several books called Persuasion, is it supposed to be? Does The Inferno refer to Dante's The Divine Comedy?
Does Quicksilver refer to Neal Stephenson's Baroque Cycle novel? I've assumed "Emily Bronte" and "Yes" as the answers to those questions, but I may be wrong.

And many of them I've never heard of, let alone read. I've reduced the font on all of those.

Okay, I've read something you haven't heard of:

The Historian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Historian), which (prior to reading Sunshine) was the only good vampire book I'd ever read. It's long, and involved, and fabulous, and involves a search for Dracula carried out across Europe. It's good stuff, and I cheerfully recommend it. In fact, I did, quite heavily, when I read it a couple of years ago.

I have A Confederacy of Dunces if you'd like to borrow it sometime, it's worth a look.

_The Fountainhead_ is by Ayn Rand, I believe. I haven't read it, but I spent a lot of time on forum2000 back in the day :-)

I think you'd enjoy _Cryptonomicon_.

Yeah, I expect I would, I know of Cryptonomicon, but I've just never got round to reading anything other than Snow Crash.

Cryptonomicon *is* good. Not as focused as Snow Crash, though - I found his tendency to digress to be a little irritating.
