Destroying Lungs in the Process
Sep. 2nd, 2007 12:18 pmSo this morning I discovered that I have got out of the habit of drinking till 3.00am and then getting up bright and early. Oww! My head actually hurts! Comes from not drinking straight whiskey all night I reckon.
Still, the way
taraxgoat was filling things up with vodka and leaving cocktails all over the place it's not bloody surprising. I suspect I'm feeling better than some though...
Needless to say,
evie_fae's Cocktails and Singstar was great fun, and I really enjoyed the last few songs, including belting out Bowie's Life on Mars, with
holding_pattern, Starship's Kids in America with
evie_fae, and Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart with
jarratt_gray.
jarratt_gray also won the round of Buzz we played afterwards, though it was close!
It was great to catch up with some of those I don't see so often, and to see some new sides to those people It was also great just to be wonderfully (if alcoholically) relaxed around friends, with nice nibbles, chocolate, music and warmth.
Unfortunately that song is now stuck in my head :

I don't know what to do, I'm always in the dark,BTW, that track is a Jim Steinman one, as could be expected from the style and the video. Jim, for those that don't know, is responsible for those huge sprawling Meat Loaf songs, and the Celene Dion hit It's All Coming Back to Me Now, which for many people is the only Celene Dion song they like. Even more interesting for some, he worked with The Sisters of Mercy on both Floodland and Vision Thing, and has also written a musical Tanz Der Vampires, which opened in Vienna in 1997.
We're livin' in a powder-keg and giving off sparks

Date: 2007-09-02 10:07 pm (UTC)You really are going to have to do a Singstar evening one day, it's great fun, even if you have to be drunk to sing (like Jarratt :) )

Date: 2007-09-02 10:06 pm (UTC)Jim Steinman is very recognizable, and deliberately tries to create "The Great American Rock Anthem", sort of his equivalent of creating "The Great American Novel".
I'm sad they don't have Paradise By Dashboard Light on a Singstar disc, coz that would take me back to my teenage when my girlfriends and I used to "air karaoke" to it.
Yes, there were two of them, girlfriends that is, and all three of us did it together. That and Alice Cooper's Nurse Rosetta.... :)
